I graduated from Iowa State and I moved to Overland Park in the summer of 08. So far I've done a pretty good job of getting settled and making new friends, but I'm always ready to meet new people.

Despite the fact that I'm an engineer, I still like to go out and have a good time. I like going to the bars, swing dancing, and doing random things. Though I like to eat healthy and I don't smoke or use drugs, I don't feel that my values are necessarily best for everyone nor that they need to be followed by all I know. I believe that is an important distinction that is often lost in this world of proselytizing zealotry and intolerance. They are merely my choices and I don't believe they are the One True Way for everyone. However, when I encounter a good person who seems to be exhibiting self destructive behavior it saddens me, and depending on the situation, I might share a gentle or firm observation.

Family and friends are important to me. Rather than visit family and put in a DVD always, I've taken to collecting a small arsenal of board games as another option for social entertainment that is more personal. I light up when I play with my niece, who is currently 4 1/2.

I love intellectual pursuits, discussion, music, theater, ballet, and foreign films. In fact, I've had a pair of season tickets to the KC Ballet for 13+ years now. Oddly, I also love physical activities and participating in sports. I don't follow professional or college sports at all, though I can watch and enjoy them if asked. I am "low maintenance", sincere, and trustworthy.

Introspection is important to me both in myself and my friends. I find a willingness to take risks and the confidence to share your opinions attractive. Being the oldest with three younger sisters taught me the destructive cultural lessons this society often teaches it's females (which I find a shame). I'm looking for one who flips society the finger and chooses to be her own beautiful and original self. I hope to find a partner who is also my best friend. I love the television series, the art, the stories, and the culture of the fans. Yep, I do go to anime conventions and I'm even one of those crazy people who dress in costume. (And I'm pretty good at it, too! I can show you pictures...)

Now to add even more to my nerd-dom, I'll say that I also enjoy video games, though I don't have the attention span or patience for the longer RPG ones. I'll play a good button-masher or some Wii Sports for fun, though!

Getting away from my animated interests, I'll tell you that I'm also a great cook. I love cooking for friends and family, and get great satisfaction when I see them enjoying food I've prepared. Maybe you'll see me on Food Network someday, right?

I'd also like to add that I do enjoy other fine arts... I love spending a peaceful afternoon visiting a museum, either with friends or by myself.

I am an eighteen year old from Kansas City/Lawrence. I'm currently looking for a long term relation and hopefully someone to spend the rest of my life with, but I'm quite terrible at meeting people. I like listening to music, especially from the 60's and 70's, and try to play the piano, guitar, and sing. I'm also pretty big into gaming, mostly pc games, although I'm trying to stop in order to spend more time on productive things. I'm big on science and will probably end up having a career in it, although I really have no idea what I want to do yet. I currently live in an apartment in Lawrence, but I'm in Kansas City almost every weekend and will probably be moving back soon.
