As with everything in life, there are good times and not so good times. This is how it is with Lourdes. Our children attended there, and now our grandchildren. The school has finally changed for the better. New teachers have been hired, and there seems to be more energy throughout the building. Our principal tries very hard to keep the school going, and now, we have a REAL Assistant Principal. Before, the Assistant Principal was there in name only. Our teachers do an excellent job. We have our favorites of course, but we are happy. We remember with joy, in 2006, when Lourdes was honored with a staff member receiving 'Wal*mart Teacher of the Year.' Our fortunate for our little school to be recognized, and for that special teacher. The principal has no leadership ability whatsoever. There was only one teacher we had contact with that I would term an educator. The safety of the children is an extremely low priority. It has a nice balance of education mixed with religion and family values. All students and families are welcomed and encourage to participate and get to know other families. The early childhood and primary grade teachers are exceptional in their knowledge and ability to work with and teach the young students.” Posted By: parent Quality Score: 3 2007-05-14 “Academics is not a priority at this school until a child reaches the third grade. There is no follow thru for students who excel beyond the curriculum formula. A parent must jump through 'hoops' to receive participation from the teachers and principal when trying to arrange for enrichment classes for a child who is in Kindergarten - Second grade. More emphasis needs to be placed on academics for these grades also. There are some parents who do want their child to continue to excel academically.”
